Hackers Use “admin” Login

It’s important to have really strong passwords. All hackers will try to hack your site with “admin” in the login information.  Ideally you should remove it as soon as possible.

Create a new username and password first because when you initially logged into WordPress you may have been assigned “admin” in your login info to access your site. Since it’s the only user you have, before deleting it, create a new admin user first, then delete the original user information afterwards.

Add New

Fill out the form as stated

Choose a difficult password or memorable phrase

Set the “role” as administrator

Don’t forget to save your changes by hitting: 

“Add new user”

Logout of your dashboard and then login with the newly added Administrator info.

You will now delete the original admin user.

Ban “Admin” Logins

If time permits, it is a good idea to follow up by banning users who attempt to login with “admin” this way they will be automatically rejected.
